This memorial website was created to celebrate the life of our loved one, Vera Hanson, 82, who was granted her angel wings on March 20th 2017. Her final days were spent surrounded by family in Oakley, California.
Vera was born on June 17, 1934 to Edith Antonovich in Oakland, CA. She attended Berkeley High where she captivated everyone with her angelic operatic voice, including her soon to be husband, Dick Hanson. Vera married her sweetheart at the age of 18 and joined him in Germany where he served in the Army, and also where they had their first child, Cheryl. They returned to Concord, CA where they had three more children, Cindy, Kathy and Michael.
Dick and Vera continued their adventures together, enjoying trips with their car clubs and exploring the Delta on their boat. They spent almost 65 wonderful years together, making a lifetime of incredible memories.
Vera spent over 20 years shaping young minds when she worked at Dorris-Eaton Preschool as Head Master & Director, and she loved every single one of her "kids". Vera also served as Director and National Secretary of the National Ford V8 club and was awarded for Outstanding & Dedicated Service, as well as Lady Street Rodder of the Year by the NSRA. She was also a member of Red Hatters and enjoyed spending time with her friends and wearing her fabulous hats.
To all that knew her, Vera was an angel on earth and now in heaven.
Vera is survived by her one and only true love, Dick Hanson, children Bob and Cheryl Mannhalter, Cindy O’Neil, Kathy Riordan, Michael Hanson, grandchildren Chad & Alarise Clay, Kelsi Mannhalter, Frankie & Brittney Vinculado, Kaycie O’Neil, Shane Riordan, Sean Riordan, and Christina Hanson.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children.
Thank you to the many family & friends that traveled far and wide to attend Vera's Celebration of Life, it was a beautiful day that we will cherish always.
