Dr. Gotoff was a fine person and a great boss. I was a research technician at Michael Reese and Rush in pediatrics (1974-1986) and helped develop an antibody assay. He taught me  about research integrity. At our research meetings he would always say, “How good are your controls?”
I was lucky to have known him.

I was a research associate in Dr. Gotoff's pediatric research group from 1980 to 1987.  It might not be appreciated that Sam Gotoff led a very active and productive research program.  He and his research group were responsible for medical procedures that effectively ended Group B Strep as a threat to newborn babies and did much to advance the idea of antibody protection against infection.
