In memory of Robert Herald, who lived his life deliberatly, and fully.
One of the things I loved about Rob was the way he invested completely in what he chose to do, whether acting as sous chef to Sharon, RVing, writing or parenting. And I will always be grateful for the deep love and caring he gave to Sharon. He will be missed.
Even Rocks disappear. Rob was my rock. It wasn’t supposed to be so sudden. I take comfort in emulating Rob’s interest in those he cared about. I received a text asking how Sharon was doing from friends in Florida. Everyone I know in San Francisco, Florida and New York know of Rob and Sharon and their kindness and generosity. Truly exceptional. Sorely missed.
Rob and Sharon have been two dear people in my life. Alison , their daughter is my sister in law and I could not ask for a better one. I had the most wonderful Thanksgiving dinner at their home in Los Gatos several years ago. We have had many fun times together and he will truly be missed. He had such a charismatic personality and great sense of humor. I'm always here for you Sharon.
Rob was a wonderful person, always present, always listening, always ready to teach and inform and engage. I hear his voice in my head and have such strong memories of our times together. He and Sharon brightened our lives every time we saw them. The love just flowed. Rob will be sorely missed but never forgotten. My love to all of you.
April 10th, 1960, my mother held me, her week-old daughter. She desperately wished to attend the wedding of Robert, her older brother, and Sharon, his love. Her wish became a reality and she attended the wedding at their parents’ home in San Francisco, California. While standing away from view, she nursed me. I soundly slept in my mother’s arms while she joyfully watched the ceremony.
Having Aunt Sharon and Uncle Rob in my life since April of 1960 has been enriching in endless ways. My Uncle Rob will continue as a father figure in my heart and I will always be his "Deb-Deb."
