Dick Pleasants was the voice and heart for the artists and community on many different levels. His legacy lives on in the musical gatherings at church coffeehouses to concerts; songwriting workshops to festival; NPR radio to community radio stations. Countless individual artists and community organizations he mentored, encouraged, nourished and sustained. Eternally grateful. -Stephen Baird
Dick was the heart, mind and soul of folk music from the first time I met him in the 60’s. His knowledge and kindness was appreciated by all who knew him. I will cherish the memories with me forever.
Dick introduced me to the rich, folk music community that thrives in the area, creating a circle of close knit friends that feel like family today. His kindness and generosity, warm conversation and laughter enriched my life
as I'm sure many others. His friendship cherished and presence greatly missed.
Thank you, Dick, for all you did to help spread the word about the contemporary singer/songwriters who were coming up in the 1980s and 90s -- your playing our songs on your radio show was life-changing for many of us, and we will always be grateful. Rest In Peace.
