Claudia & Robert Brooks
Rex took a chance on a 50 year-old IBM retiree when I joined his company in 1994. I learned a lot from him and from his associates as well. For me, he served as an advisor, colleague, boss and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Rex was a true gentleman, in every sense of the word. I learned so much from him and he gave me a real start on a career as the "voice of BTG". Just a genuinely caring person that had an impact on so many. My love and condolences Claudia and Rob.
I worked for Rex for several years in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He was a warm and caring person.
My Uncle Rex was a wonderful man! He was kind, caring, loving, honest, upright gentle and a True Gentleman.
He treated everyone with respect! Been truly blessed and privilaged to know him.
Myself and family will miss him terribly. Our prayers and love to Robert and Claudia!
I met Rex when I was in the forth grade. My grandma Tupou was the one who introduced me to him because she was a care taker for Rex’s wife and him. He would always play with me, take me on walks, and educate me about anything he could. Rex was the sweetest man to my grandma, family, and me. He had the biggest brain and heart I ever met. I will always remember him. Love, Kaiulani
Grandpa Rex,
Biologically we weren’t related through any blood line... but throughout my family’s years of knowing you, you’ve became apart of our own ?? you’ve continued to express unconditional love to our family. I hope to embody the hard-working characteristics you’ve exemplified. I love you wholeheartedly - Pookie
Rex, I don’t know where to start when it comes to you. But I can start with, thank you. Thank you for your compassion, patience and love you’ve given to my grandma. And to her family as well. I’m grateful to have known you and your kind heart through the years grandma started with you and Colleen. Thank you, for allowing my family and I into your home and treating us as family. I will miss you. Especially the visits up to Portola to visit grandma Pou and you. I’ll miss our conversations about constellations, Star Wars to Mickey Mouse and the endless ping pong matches! I’ll cherish these memories! Although we all will miss you dearly and shed our tears, I’m rest assured knowing you are with Coleen in paradise. Ofa Lahi Atu, Mr Rex Brooks.
Rex, my family & I are so beyond grateful to have met you. Thank you for the many great advices you’ve shared with me. Your warm welcoming hugs will sure be missed each time you gave us when we used to visit you & mom & your sweet smile. Thank you so much for the love you’ve shown my mother. May your sweet soul rest in peace. We love you Rex. Our prayers & love goes out to Claudia & Robert
There are few certainties in life, which makes Rex's passing so much more poignant. While I worked at BTG, Rex was a welcome constant in my life. I was certain that if I needed advice his door was always open and he new when to provide guidance and when to just listen. And, I was certain that regardless of the business challenge Rex was always a beacon of optimism in a sea of doubt.
Rex, I miss you so much. Thank you so much for loving me and my family. It has been a pleasure caring for you and Colleen and I miss you both very much. Thank you for everything you have done for me. I love you so much Rex. Pou
The memory of Rex’s warm and welcoming smile is a memory of a gentle and brilliantly shining human. How fortunate we are to have called Rex a friend, Our condolences to Claudia and Robert. Carry on with a shuffle step, flap step! With love.
Rex was such a kind and humble man. I remember how he would always smile when he would come into the office to start his day. He was a honorable man and I feel blessed to have known him. Rex and BTG were a very positive start to my career and I have so much admiration for him. My deepest sympathy to Claudia and Robert.
Rex was the first person to 'entertain' us at an annual meeting party at Poipu Kapili (Kauai) until we were able to be introduced to some of the other owners. We always looked forward to seeing him at PK. His friendship, insight and humor were always treasured and we will remember him fondly. Thanks, Rex, for the good times.
We are so very sorry for your loss. Rex was a true gentleman. We greatly appreciate having known him. His kindness, gentility, graciousness and charm will be much missed. Ann and Patrick Ciganer
Claudia and I have been close neighbours for the past 10 years...How proud Rex, the father, would be of having such a wonderful caring daughter. Rex, rest in peace --Jenny de St Georges
I met Rex in 1990. He became a mentor, one of my strongest supporters and reminded me so much of my own father that I mourn his passing as deeply as I mourned my own father. I will miss him terribly but his caring smile and gentle manner will remain forever in my heart. My deepest sympathy for your loss, Claudia and Robert. I look forward to seeing you both on your return to Kauai.
I met Rex, Colleen and Family in the early 90"s when working the front desk at Poipu Kaplli on Kauai. One of my favorite memories of Rex was of his riding, sitting in a beach chair along with Robert and my dog Kolohe in the back of my pickup to Mahaulepu Beach My truck was just short on leg room. We would have brunch and always wonderful conversation. Love & miss you Rex
Working with Rex was one of the most significant highlights of my career. Rex was a wonderful mentor to myself and others. He was an integral and important part of my life and memories of our years together are never far from my thoughts or my heart. I cherish all the years we had together, and will always remember him as the best friend and business partner anyone could have had.
