Nelson's obituary will be published in the Boston Globe on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022
So sorry to hear of Red's passing. The end of an era. There certainly weren't many like him and won't be again. He was one of a kind !! I regret only having the chance to play music with Red a couple times, but those times made memories very much like playing music with my own Dad. Of course Red having a couple sons that are musical brothers, was a natural outcome of our kindred families !
I'm grateful to have so many fond memories of Nelson. I loved hearing his stories about his younger days.
He led a rich and colorful life and his great personality will be missed. Rest in peace my friend and much love to the Burtt family.
I will miss you very much Nelson..
You were so much fun to be with…We had many enjoyable conversations and I always enjoyed your wonderful sense of humor.
Also I am very happy for you that you are now with your beloved wife again. I know that you missed her so very much.
I have so many fond memories of Nelson during the time he spent living with us. He and Barbara were both sweet, loving people and I was lucky to have shared a piece of their lives. Nelson and I became close after Barbara passed. He lifted our spirits with his singing and piano playing and never said no when we asked him to play. You will be missed Nelson. Love you,
I knew Mr. Burtt through the computer, spoke of the wonderful times with his wife Barbara who he loved and adored. He was one of the "3 redheads" which my dad, James (Sonny) Malone was one of. My Mom, Lois Peabody (Malone) was good friends with Barbara who lived nearby. I enjoyed hearing about earlier years. I only wish I had been able to have known him in person. RIP Mr. Burtt.
Mr B was like family to me. We had so many family parties where he and my family would sing and play musical instruments all nite long. I would beg him to sing Green Alligators! He was one of the kindest, talented and funniest people I had the privilege to love. He wrote many blog stories including my dads when he passed. I will forever hold you and so many fond memories in my heart!
I had the pleasure of working with red at star market. He was without a doubt the funniest guy I ever worked with. Also as nice as he was funny. So sorry for your loss
