Mr. Mullins was such a pleasure to have as a fifth grade teacher. He would put up with us in the classroom with a smile on his face and then join us for street hockey at recess. Such an unbelievable guy. Every one of my friends who had him for fifth grade remembers him as their favorite teacher. So thankful to have known him.

Mr. Mullins made the 5th grade magic! He is still my favorite teacher and will be dearly missed.

To Mr. Mullins' family - Mr. Mullins was my teacher in 5th grade at Applewild, the year my father passed away. I can't imagine learning that as someones teacher. I will never forget him trying to take extra care in counseling me. The space he provided me allowed me to grieve when needed and he genuinely helped me through the most difficult experience in my life. With sympathy - Joe Addante

Aw, Mr. Mullins. What a beautiful soul who gave so much to those who knew him. He was my son's 5th grade teacher and was so much more than a teacher. He was a representation of what is good in the world. His classroom was filled with global artifacts and his big and warm personality filled the room with warmth. My son and I are sending our gratitude and love to his family.

I have tears as I type this message to Mrs. Mullins and your family.  Mike was 3 out of 4 of my sons fifth grade teacher at Applewild.  Always, always, always so kind, understanding, joyful and a fabulous teacher.  One couldn't ask for a better teacher for my sons, and all of the other children who were lucky enough to have him.  I will forever be grateful.  The world has lost a treasure.

Mr. Mullins was so important to me. He was loving and patient in a way few teachers are and I'll never forget his hugs, his warm and booming voice, and his presence on the playground. As Keith said above, everyone cited him as their favorite teacher at Applewild. His smile made the school a true home. I wish I could have seen him one last time.

I had the privilege of being a colleague of Mike's at Applewild. Every day was better for his presence. All the tributes are so very well deserved. He was one of the good ones.

Mr. Mullins was bigger than life to me as a 5th grader.  Just so overwhelmingly positive and smart and inspirational.  I was lucky enough to work with him briefly at Applewild, shared the large house across the street, played basketball nearly every weekend, and he transitioned effortless into a mentor and friend.  What a huge loss.  What an incredible human.  Sending love and sympathy.

I am so sad to hear this news. I loved Mike. He was my teaching mentor and friend. He had a positive influence on my life. He had a genuinely kind heart and was so respectful to all students and colleagues. I especially loved his sense of humor and always looked forward to playing basketball with him after school. RIP buddy.

Kiki, my heart breaks for you, I am so sorry, I am thinking about you. Mark

I transferred to Applewild in 5th grade from public school in 1999, Mike’s class. I didn't like my name, so I re-invented. Introduced myself to the class as ‘Bre.’ Mike looked curiously at me, then he smiled wide. He knew my real name, but he called me Bre for the rest of his life, years after I’d grown into my name, graduated, picking up my brother Sam at school. Big love from Scotland <3

Mr. Mullins was my 5th grade teacher at Applewild. I was the only new student in the whole 5th grade, and a very anxious child. He was the best possible educator for me at that point in my life. He formed a home inside his classroom, and connected us to all of his previous students under the term "Mullenites", and through the love of Bubbles the Fish. Once a Mullenite always a Mullenite.

Mr. Mullins, you always had a smile on your face. I remember you walking around campus with that boom box on your shoulder listening to the RedSox opening day, year after year. Most of all, I remember Mr. Brodeur and your awesome “T’was the Night Before Christmas” skits. I will never forget all the laughs, lessons, and memories that you taught me. Thank you. May you rest in peace. ??

Mr. Mullins, my favorite teacher of all time - who made time outside of the classroom to show support when it was needed- It was a comfort to know my boys also were at Applewild with you. Thank you.

Mr. Mullins was my 5th grade teacher. I’ll never forget that year because it was the year that all learning became fun. Mr. Mullins curiosity, encouragement and kindness fostered in me the intrinsic value of learning. He had a profound impact on me. Thank you Mr. M.

In his days at Applewild BEFORE he was the 5th grade teacher, when I was in Kindergarten, I remember we made up a silly rhyme to his name calling him "Michael, Michael the motorcycle" (hey, we were 4 and 5 years old). He was a constant, fun-loving, and reassuring presence all through those years at Applewild and I am sadder today realizing he's not with us anymore. Thank you, Mr. Mullins.

I had the privilege of being one of Mr. Mullins’ students during his last year at Applewild. He was and always will be one of my favorite teachers. He made going to school enjoyable and I looked forward to his classes. Thank you for all that you did for me during the time I knew you, Mr. Mullins. I’ll miss you.

I taught with Mike for 20 years. He was always positive, with never a discouraging word. Enthusiastic about all sports, especially opening day and big hill sledding. He was always a hard act to follow when his fifth graders came to my sixth grade.  Bouctouche in NB was his touchstone, and the Dows in  their camper made a visit on our way to PEI. Rest easy Mike, always be in our hearts.

I owe what I know about teaching and being a dad to my 17 years with Mike as my teaching partner. You didn’t have to be one of his students to get an education from Mr. Mullins.
Mike will live on in the hearts and minds of the untold hundreds that had the pleasure of knowing him. I only wish he still lived in his beloved Ashby, where—“it’s always sunny and it never rains.”
Love you, Mike.

Mr. Mulllins, you were so much more to me than just my Fifth-Grade teacher. You were a true friend and mentor to me. You consistently lead by example with your unflinching demonstration of kindness and decency. You also had a wonderful sense of humor and you always had the most infectious laugh! Thanks for showing me how to be the best version of myself and I will miss you.  Love, Mike T.

Mr. Mullins was my fifth-grade teacher, as well as my brother’s ten years earlier. We both include him among our favorite teachers, but for us, he was not just a favorite; he was a teacher who truly shaped us into the men we are today. His jolly yet tough attitude had an impact on all of his students that will forever leave a mark on the world. Thank you Mr. Mullins, I will miss you
