I am saddened to learn of Linda's passing. We were neighbors for many years and was always so glad to run into her on the "Road" and at the Silver Spur. She was always so very kind to me and everyone. Sending sincere condolences to Mike, David and her family.

Dear Linda, You are a bright spot in my memories of high school. It was always wonderful to see you at reunions. You will be missed and we will see you on the other side. Prayers to your family.

Mike,
We are so saddened to hear of your loss. We have the fondest memories of Linda. As you know Linda was one of a kind—in love with life and effortlessly spreading her joy to everyone around her.
My mother has a saying—“only the good die young” and Linda was among the best of the best.
Our thought and prayers are with you and your family.

I was a daily regular at the Silver Spur for years. Usually sat at the counter and chatted with the one-of-kind Linda. Once in mid-conversation, Linda looked up and spotted another regular at the door. She called out his name. I said: Linda, I'll bet you know 500 people by their first name. She said: I know 5000 people by their first name. I believe she did.

I observed that Linda's young son Dave would spend his Saturdays serving coffee at the Spur. I told Linda that he did that so he could spend some time with his mom. Linda subsequently closed the Silver Spur on the busiest day, Sunday. She told me I caused that when she realized that her entire staff needed more time with their families. Sorry if that inconvenienced you.

Linda was very warm and kind to my young daughter Athena (and to me). She invited us to her annual Christmas celebration diner with her family and staff, and a few regulars. Of course I loved Linda and would do anything she asked. Once she handed me some cash and sent me to Cosco to buy more fresh orange juice for the Spur.

One day Linda's husband Mike sat down next to me at the counter. I knew who he was, as he once told me that Linda owns the restaurant but he owns the building and the land. Mike looked at me and said: I love Linda more than you could know! I said: Yes, I believe you, Mike. Apparently he thought I might be one of the regulars who often hit on Linda. She shared that fact with me.

Linda asked me what I thought she should do about those propositions, which made me squirm. Was she testing me? I told Linda that the only thing I respected more than her was her family. If any guilty parties read this, you owe Mike and Linda's memory an apology!

I never had a chance to visit Linda at her restaurant.  I knew her in the 70's, as a close friend, traveling companion and fellow server.  My mind still sees her holding a coffee pot at the Dream Inn, smiling the brightest smile a human being could create, and asking how my day was going.  I just cannot get over the senselessness of her passing. Bless you, Linda Lou.
