I met Lew at our MIT 50th reunion in 2015 when he was enthused about the Reunion Book. As the Reunion Chair, I was pleased that he, as a generous donor, was happy with the result. I put a copy of his page- in color- on this site. He also presented via Zoom at our 55th Reunion, even though he was in hospice. Wonderful person, we'll all miss him.

In lieu of flowers, the Counts family suggests memorial contributions be sent to support Dana-Farber’s clinical cancer research (Lew’s donation page: https://bit.ly/LewCountsDF); to the Upper Valley Haven shelter and food bank (https://uppervalleyhaven.org/donate); or to a charity of your choice.

Unfortunately I just heard about the passing of Lew. He was one of my key mentors at Analog Devices when I joined the company in April 1991 at age 29. Barrie Gilbert was my other mentor. These two gentlemen had a huge influence on me. At one time I wanted to move back to my native Germany and the company wanted to let me go. Lew and Barrie pulled out all stops to keep me. RIP, Lew!

I first came to know Lew in the late 1990s during my time at ADI. He was someone that I admired and respected hugely. He loved engineering and engineers and enjoyed nothing more than to sit down and discuss about all kinds of diverse and interesting subjects. Whenever I was visiting the US, I used to make a point of swinging by his office for a catch up chat. A wonderful man. Much missed.
