We are all energy in motion, e-motion
  • 19 years old
  • Date of birth:  March 10th, 2002
  • Place of birth:  Boston, Massachusetts, United States
  • Date of passing:  January 19th, 2022
  • Place of passing:  Austin, Texas, United States

Julia was born and raised in Arlington. She was involved in many sports and environmental causes, surrounded by loving friends. At Arlington High School, Julia was president of the Zero Waste Advisory, captain of Relay for Life, and captain of the Varsity Track and Lacrosse teams. She went on to the University of Vermont where she studied Environmental Studies and Psychology. Julia was a force of nature who left us too soon. She cared about equality and justice. She had deep empathy, which is both a blessing and a curse. She wanted people to engage authentically with caring and kindness. We have lost someone who had so much passion, intellect, caring and love to give. Julia is survived by her parents, Mark and Colleen; her younger brother Luke; and grandparents Lois Miller and Mary Breen. She is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, who she deeply loved.

Her parents ask that you plant a tree in her name or donate to one of these charities in her memory Sunrise Education Fund, or EarthJustice.

The Memorial Service will be available to attend online at 12pm ET Wednesday 1/26/222. You can access it at cparl.org (Saint Camillus Church).

Julia wanted to change the World
Julia wanted the World to change
She wanted love first and foremost and constantly pushed me to be more heart first.
I feel so much love for Julia and inside I am smiling thinking of her.
I am also wailing in such deep sadness. I love her with all my heart and soul.

I am so terribly sorry for your loss.  I loved bumping into Julia around town.  She always had a hearty hello and an incredible smile.  She was such a gentle soul.  I will cherish the memories of hiking up to the waterfall, the community camp dinners and sitting around the campfire with her.  Our thoughts are with you.  Susan, Walt, Julia and Jonathan Zak.

I am heartbroken to hear about Julia's passing. I got to know Julia when she took the lead with the AHS Zero Waste Advisory and when we hired her as a counselor with our EarthCore summer program. She was so committed to environmental causes and brought incredible positive energy to everyone around her. The Arlington Green Teams will strive to carry on her legacy and spirit.

Dear Colleen and Mark,  While I only met Julia and Luke at a young age, I just knew that they were both going to be a couple of super bright kiddos with so much to offer the world ... just like you both.  I am truly shocked and devastated to learn of Julia's recent struggles and ultimate passing.  Please know that you are not alone. These are trying times.  Please reach out any time.   KD

I never met Julia, but heard about her for years from Mark. As a father, friend, and near-neighbor, I am heartbroken for your family and so sad that the world has lost someone whose energy and ideals are sorely needed. Most of all I wish you the strength to get through this in the short term and the peace to live with it in the long run.

My great niece Julia was amazing from the day she was born. We spent time exploring the world together and cooking up dinner for our French visitors. She was able to make herself at home as well as make our guests. feel the same.Julia was fearless, which allowed her to venture into life with great expectations ..We will miss her every day.

Julia was a light in the world. She will always be connected to the Arlington's natural environment for me, as a leader among her peers and a dedicated environmentalist. Thank you, Julia, for sharing your passion with all of us.
