Jim was such a strong presence at the 3rd Thursday poetry readings in at the Willow Glen Library in San Jose. I will always remember his strong voice, firm convictions, and fearless delivery. I'm so grateful to have known such a dedicated poet and warm person.

I remember Jim as a fearless poet at Willow Glen’s Third Thursday Poetry Reading.
Later he featured some of my work and I was so honored to be a part of his poetry project.
It saddens me that we have lost a great poet and friend.

Jim was one of the most selfless and supportive poets around. He hosted many poetry events and made a special effort to promote young poets and poets who otherwise wouldn't be heard. With his poetry show and Facebook page he sought to support poets and poetry all over the world.  He brought hundreds of poets together across borders, who would have never met otherwise.

Wow. Sad to hear this. Anybody who makes such a contribution to the arts gets my respect. I remember first meeting him and not quite trusting him, in particular, because my poetry community is rather sensitive and, in general, because older white men get a bad rap these days. But it turned out to be nothing but love. I was  on Central Coast Poetry Shows, too. Thank you for caring, Jim.
