From the days of caring for you when your were 1 year old to the days when we double dated a pair of Navy pilots, my memories of you are filled with sweet and beautiful images. You were always quick to smile and eager to help those less fortunate. In so many ways we were as different as night and day but I will always cherish you as my sister and hold you tenderly in my heart.
Since the day you were born, you have always had a special place in my heart. I will always remember your unique combination of strength and gentleness, closeness and independence; and your urge to help others through your commitment to service. Your sweet disposition and easy smile affected those around you. You will be in my thoughts forever.
Jacquelyn Smith was one of the most cheerful and good-natured people that I have ever met. She was always looking for the positive, or humorous, angle to any situation. She loved the outdoors, the beaches at Half Moon Bay, and the Pacific Crest Trail. She liked people and liked helping people. She will be missed.
Such a wonderful teacher and friend! Such a kind spirit!
I am so very sad to hear this news. I so remember your bright eyes and kind smile. An amazing teacher, you were. You will so be missed
So many thanks to Jacquelyn for her many years of service in strong support of her colleagues. The Association of Pleasanton Teachers appreciates her continual work in serving in so many capacities as a devoted APT representative. Jacqueline served as site rep, bargaining team member, Executive Board positions including treasurer, secretary, and president, and as State Council Rep. RIP
Jacquelyn made a huge impact on students, colleagues, and friends. I remember the day in the old IMC at FHS when I heard loud screaming and ran down to see her standing on a chair afraid of a mouse that crossed her room. Such a strong woman with a strong sole (and a weakness for rodents)! Your eyes, knitting, tenacity, and service will always be in our memories. Peace, Jacqueline!
Madame Smith was my favorite teacher at Foothill High School. She was smart and had a wonderful caring personality. Her class was always interesting and she left a lasting impression on me, even now 20 years after graduating high school. I will miss her dearly and hope she is in heaven now.
Jacquelyn Smith was the sweetest and kindest person I ever met. I had the privilege and honor to know her for the last 4 years of her life. Every day she smile, hug, and kiss with so much love and happiness. She enjoyed singing The Beatles and her favorite song, I want to hold your hand. We enjoyed life, friends, and the beach every weekend. I used to called her my moonlight lady. Miss her
I met Jacquelyn when our daughters were in 1st grade. I quickly learned what a caring, giving, loving, energetic, loyal, & fun-loving person she was. She worked tirelessly at her church, was president of her union, began a Girl Scout troop, worked in the Peace Corps, & was a respected & dedicated teacher. I cherish the many fun ski trips, BBQ's, etc... our families shared. RIP friend.
What a wonderful Aunt. Always smiling & laughing, inquisitive with a strong desire to share knowledge, loving & so fun. I have amazing memories of sitting barefoot, cross-legged in her apartment eating the juiciest Moroccan chicken imaginable (with our hands!), and fishing on Lake Chabot. Aunt Jacquie, you had a true zest for life & made a big impact on mine. You are loved & will be missed
I met Jacquelyn several years ago. Her can-do attitude and willingness to step up are qualities that I admired in her. She was joyful and made those around her laugh. An example is your legacy. Thank you and RIP.
From Diane & Pat McLaughlin: "Our memories of Jacquelyn revolve around the holidays, mostly the wonderful Thanksgivings we shared at Kathy and Craig's in Pleasanton over the many years. Our clearest memory was her engaging smile that lit up the room. She had a beautiful laugh that made you feel good. She was always kind and sincere......"
Continued from Diane & Pat McLaughlin: "....In many ways she was a reflection of her lovely mother, Ronnie. While having some bumps in the road, she always kept a positive attitude, and we were so happy to have known her. God Bless Jacquie and her family.
How sad I am to learn she is gone! I remember her well as a a gracious, charming presence in our school lives, smart, smiling and kind, with natural glamour, and most of all, she taught me French. Today I am translating Apollinaire with my francophone husband, and I thought she would be proud. Bonne nuit, Mme Smith, que Dieu te bénisse.
