I knew Ian for most of my life, for a long time just as my brother's friend. I got to know him better when we took classes together at UCCC. I learned what a smart, kind, respectful, and funny person he was. I remember that he loved cats and thought the best names for cats were human names. He especially thought Nancy was a great cat name. He will be missed. My sympathies to his loved ones
I had the privilege of knowing and working with Ian in my time at the Catskills Visitor Center. I admired his energy, dedication, and commitment to our natural world and all the people who enjoy it. He has left a firm but gentle mark on our Catskill mountains and park that will be appreciated by generations to come. My sincerest sympathies to his loved ones.
