I’m grateful to know Helen through her daughter Marcia whose teaching, mentorship, and friendship bless my life. Meeting Helen at Marcia’s retirement celebration was a gift. I saw Marcia and the hardworking faith of the people she comes from in her face. What I know of Helen’s life experiences through Marcia brings wisdom to my life. I’m grateful for her legacy.

What wonderful memories I have of times and conversations with gentlewoman Helen!
Ballets (Frankenstein was not quite the same as Cinderella!), singing with her daughters at my Thanksgiving table, learning about the Spit & Argue Club of Long Beach (a real thing) and generally enjoying each others’ company through the years. I am richer for having known her.
