I met George in Houston in 1976 and that was the beginning of our 48-year friendship.  We were both heading to Alaska to work for the USGS, and were both in the Navy Reserves.  He was, without a doubt, a most loyal friend.  We had many adventures together, but I always like to brag that my good friend stood on the summit of Denali. Rest in peace, George.
