George was a really kind & generous man. My sister worked for him many years. He let her invite “extra” family to their annual private Christmas Eve dinners at Sullivans. My sons & I were fortunate to attend many times. I felt so blessed, they were very special times & he treated us like family. I will never forget his kindness, his genuine hugs & beautiful smile. RIP George~

George definitely made his mark in the jewelry industry in Anchorage. The first place suggested to go when you are looking for some bling is The Gold and Diamond Co. His famous jewel extravaganza in November was always a fun holiday kick off giving folks a chance to dress up and be sparkly!  He generously donated to the Firefighters Ball for many years...the world has lost a jewel of a man

I am so sad as 8 short weeks ago I spoke to George never thinking he would leave us so soon! The Walton Family became my family when I started watching their kids in 1982 So many memories,I remember as a young girl trying on all the jewelry & George making me feel so special! Always so good to our family! I’m only at peace knowing George & Sweet Bri are watching over Marissa & DJ & family

~I worked for George Walton almost every Saturday at The Gold and Diamond Company for the last 14 years so losing him so unexpectedly this past holiday season has been extremely heart crushing.
We had such a routine every week, before I’d start cleaning the shop we’d sit and visit. He’d ask me how my week was, if my children were all well, how was I enjoying my grand babies and of course what all was wrong with our country, our city and leaders in Alaska and America. We always collaborated on how fine things would be, how everything would make sense if only we could run things~??
George was one of my biggest supporters when covid turned my life upside down. He kept me working even though times were tough when my full time employer had treated me pretty terrible. He listened to me and listened to me, he was genuinely concerned about how I was doing each day for weeks texting and calling often just to check in.
I’ll miss you so much, miss seeing you in the shop, preparing for your annual anniversary/holiday parties which were legendary but most of all greeting you every Saturday, saying “hey George, how was you week”? His response each and every time was “slice of heaven Mikey, slice of heaven.”????
Thank you George for being so kind to me, for being such a loyal friend and boss. This life just keeps changing and not gonna lie, the sadness is often overwhelming and how I want so much for things to be the way they used to. Thankful, grateful and blessed that I knew you and for my many years of memories, really heartwarming memories.

~This world lost a rare gem.
       Rest Peaceful Sir~??

             Love, Mikey~

George was an amazing person, a great role model, and someone I always admired. In business, he always stayed positive and upbeat and I watched his relentless perseverance drive him to become one of the most respected jewelers in the industry. And then there were the times as a friend, where I knew he was someone I could rely on for a good piece of advice or share a good laugh with

Bill and I just learned of George's passing and are just at a loss for words. He has been there for us over and over and over and we have only the fondest memories of him. If we had been budgeted for more jewelry, we might have set up a campsite in his store. His loss is huge and we will miss him. How can Anchorage ever be the same? God bless him and condolences to his family and friends.
