This memorial website was created in the memory of Gene as a way to share about his wonderful life and what he meant to us.
The greatest Dad on earth, smartest man & bestest listener of all time! I learned so much & often live by his counsel. He taught me patience, seeking to understand before being understood & taking responsibility for my actions. I am grateful for his shared wisdom, unconditional love for his children & grandchildren and showing me his peacefulnes upon passing. I miss and love you Daddy-O
Grandma Gene was know to give such profound advice. Arguably some of the most impact words of wisdom I've received came from Gene.
His impact on my life are:
1. Make sure you make sure everyone in a group is heard
2. I remind him of himself - eager to learn and curious
I am so thankful to God for bringing Gene into my life! I am truly a much better person as a result of the influence he has had on my working and private life! I had the pleasure of working for Gene for over 15 years at Lockheed-Martin. So many special memories I have of him during this time. Truly a remarkable, cherished and well loved individual. He will always be missed.
Gene made an impact on my life during my pivotal high school years. He always treated the teenagers as adults and not kids. His Sunday dinners not only introduced me to gourmet foods but encouraged very thoughtful conversations. I still think of him today when I eat Cioppino and hear Paul Simon. Very happy memories. My prayers and thoughts are with the entire Fields family.
Sending prayers and hugs to the Fields family. Gene was an amazing man that could”cook” and had a heart of gold and a terrific sense of humor. He will be sadly missed.
You will be missed dear friend. You were always such a good listener, with a wonderful sense of humor, and such a great gourmet cook, that I was always nervous cooking for you. You were also very talented with your photos and your stained glass. I was a recipient of a treasured stained glass horse head. Love and prayers to the Fields family and especially to Edie my best
friend.

A very warm and sensible friend! I will never forget you. I don't know how I could. Much of what I have has you written all over it! The stained glass tiger and, the living room and bedroom furniture you rearranged for me while Edie and I were shopping. (I have never changed a thing). The tv and sound systems you set up for me. How can I not think of you every day? That doesn't even capture all the good times I had on my visits to your home and the fabulous cuisine. You and Edie will be in my prayers forever.
I will always have a special place in my heart for Gene......He was a great boss and friend. His wise
counsel helped me through a difficult period in my life. Not only that, his sense of humor helped take the
"work" out of working! He will be missed......thoughts and prayers are with Edie and his beautiful family!!
I was so fortunate to have worked with and for Gene who was my manager during my later years with Lockheed in Sunnyvale. He was the model manager, straightforward, quick to react and once he delegated a task he would not micro-manage, but always ready and willing to discuss if complications surfaced. Gene was tenacious in giving credit to a subordinate when merited.
Gene had a way of engaging us employees by holding our attention. Gene’s humor, clever anecdotes and playful repartee made the common department party uncommon, engaging, special and bonding. At the same time, he was fully committed to the work and established expectations for all of us to take it to the next level.
He was a good leader and a good man
Gene was a second father to me. As a teenager I remember sitting in his car and blasting ELO on the stereo. He laughed with me, talked with me, and he called me out when I needed it. I especially loved his tortilini and peas dish. I still have the stained glass lamp he made for me as a wedding gift. He will always remain close to my heart and in my childhood memories. Cheers Gene
I have many wonderful memories as a child and teen visiting my Uncle Gene and Aunt Edith in San Jose. Also spending the best Christmas’s ever at grandma and grandpas house in Burlingame. Uncle Gene always made us laugh. He loved to show us magic tricks and tell us his jokes. Uncle Gene was such a wonderful man and is greatly loved and missed!
Gene, your memory lives on!
When we hear someone telling a joke, when we hear Jazz music, when we need BBQ sauce, when your children and grand children are gathered round we think of you! Long live Gene in our hearts! Love lives on:) Strength to Sister Edes too:) Deb
