My Mother will be so deeply missed by me and the family.  We welcome you to join us for her services and the celebration of her vibrant and giving life.  Mom loved the color purple.....so please wear purple if you can or some other festive color to honor her. Love, Barbara

It’s sad the passing of tia Florence, but I will remember her as the fun tia that would always tell fun stories would make me laugh, although it was very few times that I visited with her I will cherish them.

I too will forever miss Tia Florence. I was lucky enough to learn many life lessons from her and share many fun adventures. One lesson learned was family first. Then, the rest of the world. We're alll family. What a role model. One fun adventure that stands out is touring Europe with my Mom and Tia. We had a blast without being the ugly Americans!  Fun trip!  Thank you and love you mucho.

Florence, you were my introduction to how gracious and loving a family could be.  Thanks for all the great partnerships we shared at Fiestas, CET luncheons, great Mexican treats shared with you and Phil and the kids around your table.   There is not enough space here to share all the voids you filled in my life as a friend and confidant.  Russ joins me in gratitude to you and Phil.

Katharine Price  sends this tribute from Belize....
Florence and I were friends and "fighters for justice" for decades, meeting on the Eastside in the 60's through the  Grail. We were part of a network of women who made a difference in the lives of those forgotten. Our spirits will remain connected forever...

Words can not say how sad I feel at this moment. Mom will be deeply missed. She was a loving, powerful and giving person. She loved all her family and friends. Thank you all for being part of her life.

Mom... Today you will have been gone from us for a week - still does not seem real. You are the most amazing woman I know... How did you do it ALL?!!- the REAL Wonder Woman was in East San Jose!!  Mother, grandmother (Tita), teacher, community leader, activist, friend, aunt, sister, role model - INSPIRATION! Thank you, thank you for all that you have given to EVERYONE!

My husband,  Bob, and I shared many happy afternoons visiting with Florence and her dog when she was living in San Jose.   She was fun, easy to talk to and very interesting.  She loved talking about her family and how much they meant to her.  She also reminisced about the good old days.  She was very proud of her family.
  She shall be missed.

So many great memories, hard to write them all. Most important thought is you were my second mom. I've been so fortunate to have many extended families, but yours is nearest & dearest to my heart. You were an amazing mom & woman. So many accomplishments to name, but most important...mom & friend.  Thank you so very much for being those to me.

Flo, at first you were just a sweet and kind lady. The more time I spent with you I loved you, your spirit that was still very strong even with struggles you faced with the illness. To the very end you continued to love your family and life. You truly inspired me to do more and be the best mom and person I can be. You are missed but never forgotten.

Mrs. Marquez, just a few days ago, on my birthday, January 5th, I was sharing with my mom that you were my favorite “mom” out of all my friends moms.  You always treated me like a daughter & welcomed me into your home.  You will never be forgotten as you have impacted so many people!  Say hello to Mr. Marquez for me.  We shall see each other again!  Pray to the Lord Jesus Christ......

Florence made a home that was such an important cornerstone for my mother.   A place where everyone was welcome.  A place where there was always a pot of love on the stove for whomever stopped in.  For my mother, it was a place where she felt at home to share and engage in activism with your parents.   Florence will be missed.   You should be so proud she was your mother. When someone you love passes on, the memories remain vibrant in your heart.  Florence was a very special woman, who always thought of others before herself, was passionate in all she did and stood for, looked for the best in everyone she came across and dedicated her life towards social justice & transforming communities where she lived. May her memory alwaya serve as a blessing to others.

When I think of Florence, I think of Proverbs 31.  It describes a woman who is strong, dignified, kind, hardworking, wise, loving and faithful.  "Her children arise and call her blessed." She faces adversity with grace.  Verse 29 says "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all."
Our family will never forget sweet "Grandma" Florence.
