We are all deeply shocked to hear of the death of Eva Hlasny and we would like to offer our deepest sympathy. Unfortunately, the information about the death of our aunt I discovered by chance, today (November 30). When I went back to the Monterey Herald for a long time, to which I had previously sent several discussion papers, such as here (http://www.topix.com/forum/city/halfway-mo/TMSVSAQOIHJU2TA10/re-fda-rule-poses-problem-for-handling-dead-mo-cow ). Husband of Eva was Karel Hlasny (1911-1982), my father's brother, born in Bludov, Czech Republic.
Uncle Karel was the chief of the staff of the second Czechoslovak paradesant brigade (about 2,800 parachutists) on the Eastern Front. After the war (1946) promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel of the General Staff of the Czechoslovak Army. Last occupation, before communist persecution (December 13, 1947), Chief of Staff of the 1st Armored Division in Prague.
Karel emigrated to Germany (1948), later to Australia (1949) until finally finished in Monterey (1952). Until Eva arrived in the USA, both maintained written contacts and experienced many interesting stories, which are described in detail on Bludov's Web site. See here;

Peter and Tom, we are so very sorry to hear about your loss.
Josef Hlasny, DVM, PhD, Bludov, Czech Republic
