Hello Matthew,
I am sorry for your loss- what an exceptional man and how lucky you all were to have his zest for life enhance yours.
I am the editor and publisher of the Islesboro Island News and would be honored if you would allow me to run Ethan's obituary in the next issue. maggywillcox@gmail.com
Ethan was my father’s best friend and huge in my life. I will miss him. Hugs to the Emery Clan, Robin Tompkins Ray
My wife Lila, my youngest daughter and I lived with and near Ethan on his Tivoli, NY estate, Rose Hill from 1988-1999. Ethan was a wonderfu human being, kind, big hearted, jovial, exuberant and certainly loomed large. He was always working, building, plastering, landscaping on that property and traveling to and from his other places and working on them. Always remembered.
His laugh filled the air, his generosity unlimited. There were ducks and wild turkeys hanging during season in his barn. He raised pigs and kept pigeons. He spent many years renovating the Rose Hill property before selling it around 2000 to artist Brice Marden. He then moved his home base to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico
I was near Tivoli today and I thought of Ethan. I am sorry to hear about his passing. But he certainly lived life to the fullest. He was a great friend to my father and I remember his stories and pizzaz for life fondly.
