Ed was a very good friend, both professionally and personally. We met back in1973 when he was with the DOE and I was with the Westinghouse Research Laboratory. Ed was the contract monitor for a research program that we had on Materials for extreme cryogenic applications. We found a mutual appreciation for metallurgy and welding technology. Ed and I were in the 1979 tech visit to USSR.
I was the administrative assistant for Ed when he worked at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. He was the smartest man I ever supported. He sometimes pretended to be grumpy which made me laugh. He was a very caring tender hearted person. I’m sure he is missed by many. My condolences to his wife and family.
