Dave was always a caring and gentle person. The world was better for it.
Today is a memorial service for a brother from church that died from Covid. Dave Claffie.
I knew Dave from the beginning of my coming to church here in Lowell.
My greatest memory was of us driving to Hershey Pennsylvania for a singles retreat. We (He) drove for over 9+ hours. We saw the countryside. We talked for hours about life, dreams, and goals. Listening to the radio, he kept changing the stations on midsong....lol.
I remember us driving past fields of grass as far as the eyes can see. It was breathtaking in two amazing ways.
It was breathtaking to see all that natural beauty.
It was also breathtaking as we had two very distinct smells coming from the field.
Chocolate and Cow Manure.
I think it was at that moment we stopped like Chocolate milk for a time..lol
We stayed at the Hershey Hotel. On our beds each day we tested an at that time experimental bar called Cookies and Creme, with a review card.
I like to think it exists now because of us, but that is just me.
I wish I had the pictures from that time. Because this is all I remember of it.
My time with Dave.
I guess that is the best way to honor the man.
Never Forgotten.
