I am so very sorry to hear of Charlie's death. I work at Boston College, currently teaching but formerly as an associate dean. Charlie was a gentle, kind and lovely man with a wry sense of humor, and I loved running into him. As I type this, I am looking at a photo of a man in Kosovo that he gave me once that is framed in my study. My deepest sympathies to his wife and family.
