Barry always made me feel as if I had something to say worth listening to. He was so smart but absolutely unpretentious. Barry engaged with everyone in such a sincere, open, authentic way, regardless of their educational level, political views..How many of us do that? I will miss his intelligent, funny, and kind perspective very much.

This was beautifully articulated, Cindy. My father was so down to earth- his blue collar roots always stayed with him. Your tribute touched my heart

Our friendship began when we were 12. We did so much together. Fishing, shooting arrows, making arrows and having long talks about our future. He was my life long friend and I will dearly miss him. He was a great guy. Rest In Peace my dear old friend

Barry was a beloved member of our retired geezers coffee group. I'll miss his wit and intelligence.
His experience in practicing psychiatry provided insights into many deep conversations. He always enriched the discussion. Barry's willingness to share his professional knowledge and personal  life experience was quite helpful to me and my family. I'll always be thankful to him.

Thank you,  Barry
For being a loyal, generous, and thoughtful friend. And teacher.
And anonymous contributor of many different sorts of help to people who were fortunate enough to come into contact with you.
Your kindness will always be with me.

Barry was such an unusual and lovely combination of deep intelligence and playfulness; gravitas and childlike wonder; earning great professional respect but very approachable. In addition to always enjoying his presence at our gatherings over the years, he generously assisted me through a difficult period in my life. His kindness and empathy are examples to us all.

I knew Barry from the Medical Library at CCRMC, where I enjoyed many conversations with him discussing everything from books and films to politics and ethics.  In addition to the many ways he supported the library, he gave me advice and empathy during two tough times in my life.  I've missed him since the day he retired and will always remember him with a smile on my face.

Barry remains in my thoughts and memories. He was easygoing and accepting....witty and whimsical, at times. He was a valued colleague, an excellent teacher. I loved being with him, albeit years ago. The plays at Mt Tam and the evening groups with Barry and Linda. I am sure that Tenki, Bobbee, Dana, and Paula would join me in sending our condolences. What wonderful memories!  Jim

I think of my brother Barry almost every day but today is different because it is his birthday.....and how I wish he were with us!
Soon it will be the one-year anniversary of his death (June 4th). I usually do not light a yahrzeit candle, as done in Jewish tradition, but I think I will do it this year.
