Al was joyful It was infectious. Just talking with Hal made me happy. His extraordinarily beautiful photographs shone with his love of travel and nature. We felt his joy of life and friendship on visits even as his body so limited his movement and expression. We will miss but long remember Al's passion for life.
In June of 1964, I met Al in the Emergency Room of Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston where I had taken my mother who was dying of cancer. He was doing his Residency in Internal Medicine and was her admitting physician. We started dating soon afterward.
Al was a great support to
me during and after her death. We were married on March 20,1965 in King’s Chapel in Boston and had many wonderful years together.
I can’t thank him enough for the birth of Lauren and Susannah— our highly intelligent and loving daughters. I have great appreciation to them for caring for him so much during the last days of his life.
With deep regrets at his passing,
