Mr. Simpson's family: my brother, John Gratiot told me of Mr. Simpson's death, being interested in the source of his middle name. The Gratiot family has lived on the peninsula since 1922, and are descendants of Charles and Henry Gratiot who lived in the Midwest. If you have a chance, I would love to know more.
