Alan is simply one of the finest friends and colleagues a person could have. I was lucky enough to work together with Alan at Northeastern University for over a decade, and I enjoyed and benefited from it every day. I also remember that for me, his friends and family he was always ready to provide help and support whenever needed and without asking. One of my fondest memories will always be his wonderful laugh. Alan will be sorely missed but not forgotten.
I worked with Alan at Northeastern and we became fast friends. He was wonderful to be around, always smiling and in a good mood. He saw the positive in everyone and was incredibly generous. He patiently taught me how to use computer mapping software- we had lots of laughs at my pathetic maps-but now I teach it to college students. Rest In Peace Alan. You will be missed.
