I met Bill when I joined West Valley's English Dept. in 1981.  He became a good friend and wonderful mentor.  I so admired his knowledge and love of literature, and I know his students did, as well.  He was always good humored and positive -- even during interminable and occasionally testy department meetings!   I treasure the memories and am forever grateful I was privileged to know him.

I will be forever grateful for the influence of Dr. Mowatt.
He was the one who called Santa Clara University and took me over there to speak to members of their English Department.  Because of him I am a Santa Clara  alumni. Rest in peace, Dr. Mowatt. You will always be remembered for your excellence! Thank you!
