Our family is forever grateful to Bill; he was a true friend to our parents, Dr. Philip & Eileen Blumenthal. His energy was limitless, he radiated warmth and love, and could be counted on whenever the going got rough. He had a passionate interest in my skiing adventures and we shared many stories about our escapades. I hope he is happily embracing our parents in the hereafter!
Bill was one of the most amazing people I’ve ever known. I’ve been going to his Mass ever since I was 10 years old. Each Sunday without fail he would ask, “Where have you seen Christ in your life this week?” I saw it in Bill, in his words, how he lived his life, and how he treated other people. I’ll never forget you Bill and I’ll always be grateful for inspiring me to be a better person.
Bill opened my mind to the cosmic Christ and what it means to be Christian. My husband and I were asked regularly to bring up the gifts as family, unusual in the Catholic Church for gay people to be so welcomed. He embodied the spirit of Christ and lived a humble life of service to all God’s people. He was truly a man for all seasons. We will miss him until we meet again. Pax tecum.
