A veteran, loyal husband, father of 6, grandpa to 13 of us... I'll never forget all the great memories of all of us at nana's and your house...Golf outings with everyone. Driving in the back of the studebakler pickup during the 4th of july parades. All of our family gatherings. The noise of your dress shoes on the wood floor... doing the dishes at 6 a.m while we were trying to sleep...and if we weren't up by then,  a john wayne western or war movie with the volume on 50 would do the trick!!! You loved all of soo much... often would you brag at family events to friends how much of good looking bunch of grandkids you had!! You are the definition of real man, husband, soldier, and father. Your respectful nature, work ethic, values, and beliefs that you have passed onto your kids have been passed onto us. I want to thank you for showing us all what a  great marriage really is, and the importance of family. You will be greatly missed Big Dad... May your beers be ice cold up there... and all your drives end up on the green... Love ya Big dad

The following is from an email I sent to a friend in Calgary Canada after the airlines lost his golf clubs and then he left his cell phone in the golf cart. I had loaned him my set, returned to the golf course found his cell and returned it to him before his flight home. He wrote me a nice note after hearing about Dad.

Dear Carl, I appreciated the kind words about my father.
He was a very good man and really the he's the reason you had golf clubs to play with and why you got your phone back, something he would have said was the only way one person should treat another and not to think of yourself as anything special for doing what was decent or kind.
