Bill was one of my family's closest friends. He and my dad were fishing and hunting buddies as well as teachers in Seward from 1957 onward. As a bachelor, Bill spent many a meal at our kitchen table. After he married Sheila, they were regular clients on my dad's charter boat, the Irish Lord, in Seward. As a young adult I was a regular visitor to their house and had a place to stay. RIP
Bill Erwin changed my life. At 27, I got Multiple Sclerosis and my employer's crooked insurance company withheld my disability pension. Bill represented me Pro Bono for over 11 years, making them pay. I told Bill I was to marry. Bill summoned the man to his office and grilled him, what retirements, medical care, survivor benefits? With Bill''s approval, I marrried,
I am Catholic and often saw Shelia at daily mass. He and Shelia attended the baptism of my first child. I was honored to have him present. My insurance co, sent a nurse to interview me at Bill's office, He told her I would always have legal representation. She asked me where I found him. I said, "God sent him," He was my example of faithful giving, and service to others.
