Valerie was an important part of our church family at St Edward. She was there every Saturday night to greet people, not with her voice but with her heart. Words come easily to some, but to truly care for others takes much more effort. A kiss and hug were her way of letting you know how much she cared. I just wish we had one more Saturday to let her know how much see meant to so many people
Valerie and I grew up in the same community. After high school, our paths went in different directions until we reconnected 40 years later. When she returned to VA, Valerie was looking for a job. As God would have it, I needed a Secretary/Office Manager. Valerie came to work for PARC, Inc. for seven years. She was well loved and respected by everyone in the organization. After her retirement, we kept in touch. I will truly miss Valerie’s presence and friendship.
I am so sad to hear of Valerie's death. I would frequently see her at Saint Benedict, where I serve as music director. Valerie was such an incredibly kind, peaceful, and loving presence any time she was here. The parish staff was so saddened to learn of her death. I have never felt such a strong connection with someone whom I had never spoken a word. Eternal rest, grant unto her, O Lord.
