I was saddened to hear of Urchie’s (Spoke’s) passing. He has been in my life since I can remember and is a person who I hold in the very highest regard. Spoke’s kindness to my mother Gerda, his aunt, was touching to me. I will remember him as one of the most positive and uplifting people I have ever known and as an example of how we should all conduct our lives.

Mr. Ellis was one of my favorite patients and will certainly be missed.      Lawrence Lewkow. M.D.

The  croquet players who had the good fortune to play with Urchie Ellis mourn his loss and extend our deepest condolences to his family. He will always be remembered as our teacher, mentor, coach, and sincerest friend. He played with great skill, clear thinking, charm and kindness. And although he talked precious little about what he did outside of the game he loved, we know that he lived his life just the way he played the game. We treasure the joy that he brought us and are grateful to have shared happy times with him on the court.
