Death is something that was never intended for the human heart to experience... it tears it to pieces.
Tom Stephens, my step-dad, was a great man. He had his weak points, but he had a heart of gold that I loved so deeply! I loved talking with him about everything, from politics to philosophy. He was a very intelligent man, whom people loved deeply. He was a man that longed for adventure! I would sit and listen as he told of his many stories of the crazy and amazing younger years! He was an outstanding athlete, an intelligent and passionate teacher, a successful businessman, a friend, husband, and step-dad.
I am grateful for the good in the 22 years that he was in my life. May God truly help his troubled soul to rest.... Uncle Tom I will miss you... who loves you baby!

Miss you and love you Tommy. We had good times watching movies, chatting about life. You wrote some great stories.
It's wonderful you had the ??experience with Charlotte River! And we had so much fun when we were in the parade in Aptos. Thank you for our happy times. And you loved Yosemite. RIP

Farewell to my friend Tom Stephens ("Uncle" Tom). My wife Lynn and I retired to Rancho Murieta CA  where I met Tom on one of the lakes here. He was fly fishing for bass.  We hit it off and have been friends ever since. We shared the passion for fly fishing and experienced many fishing trips. He was a great buddy, fun & lively; and I will miss him dearly. Bill Ozzie Ossolinski

Tom, you were one of the most truly amazing people known. I was been blessed to have involved in my life as my step-father. You never would admit or accept how great and influential you were in my life and so many others. But I can honestly say you are a big reason for the success and happiness in my life today. I never meet anyone that was better at knowing how to enjoy life and you shared that with many people including myself. Many of the happiest moments of my life were times I spent with you. I saw from a distance you had this same effect on many other people. It was a true gift you had. You were amazingly intelligent with your social and political knowledge, one of the few people that I could talk to for hours and have the greatest time just talking. You were an amazing father to me when I needed a father figure in my life. You taught me things that I use and will use the rest of my life. Your blessed athletic ability always amazed be and we had the best times playing in paddle tennis and other tournaments as a team. The times I was blessed to just hang out with you were truly some of the BEST times of my life. I know you are looking down on us and I will continue to look up to you. You will continue to be a huge inspiration for me every day for the rest of my life. Love, Ben

one year has gone by ........

The reality is that you will grieve forever. You will not "get over" the loss of a loved one; you will learn to live with it. You will heal and you will rebuild yourself around the loss you have suffered. You will be whole again but you will never be the same. Nor should you be the same nor would you want to.

Hi Tom
We are thinking of you today...3 years have gone by.  There will always be a gap where you once filled.  As we walk on the beach this evening, remembering you, our hearts will fill with thoughts of you.  Grateful you aren’t suffering any longer and are at peace.  Who loves you baby!
