The Final checkered flag waved for Thomas "Butch" Althar on February 7, 2018. Butch passed away peacefully with his loving wife of 60 years, Ruth, by his bedside. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, his 4 children (Kim, Todd, Kris and Kelly), 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Valley Bible Church, 1477 Willow, in Hercules, CA on February 22nd at 11:00 am.

What a double blessing I received when I became friends with Kim. Butch and Ruth opened their home and hearts to their children's friends. I could go there anytime and I knew I would be welcomed. I know they didn't know it at the time, but their kindness was a refuge. You will be missed, kind man.
