What sad news!  He was my favorite professor.  I always referred to him as 'The Listener'.  I would not have gone on to get my Dr. degree, had it not been for his encouragement.  My positive wishes and prayers are for Pat and the family.  He will be missed by many of us who respected and cared for him, and whose lives were enriched by his wisdom
