On Friday, December 21, 2018, Suzanne Forti left us far too soon. Suzanne was first and foremost a loving, doting, adoring mother to Maeve Forti, the true love of her life. Maevey was her everything. Sue was also the youngest of Tom and Eve Forti’s five children, their baby. Suzanne was everyone’s favorite, and she made each of us feel like her favorite too. That’s just the way she was.

There are so many words that can be used to describe Suzanne. She was funny (oh was she funny), irreverent, strong, tough, resilient, good, kind, giving, compassionate, generous, caring, talented, emotional, loving, forgiving, vulnerable. But these still seem to fall short of capturing all that she was. In the end, though, she was just Suzanne. A force of nature.

Suzanne was successful in everything she did, whether it was her career as an extraordinarily skilled and compassionate respiratory therapist, or her recently found love of painting, at which she showed immense talent. She painted as part of her own therapy, using it as an outlet for the physical pain she suffered these past few years.

Suzanne Forti the person, however, is how she will be forever remembered: by her daughter Maeve Forti, of Brookline, MA, and her partner Eric Zilber, of Cambridge, MA; her parents Tom and Eve Forti, of Bremen, ME; her siblings and their families; Tom, Marianne, Jude and Greta Forti, of Baton Rouge, LA; Sharon and Donald Mathison of Abington, MA, Kate and Craig Darmetko of Medford, MA, and Rachel Mathison of South Boston, MA; Liz, Pam, Ava and Esme DiStefano-Forti, of Brookline, MA; and Tim, Megan, and Timothy Forti, of Whitman, MA; her aunts, uncles, and cousins; the many friends, coworkers, patients, and strangers that she touched in her remarkable life. And her cherished cat, Angelina, whom she loved.

Suzanne, we are lifted knowing that your loving soul is now watching over all of us.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Suzanne’s memory to the Wellness Center at Rosie’s Place, c/o Liz Silva, 889 Harrison Ave, Boston, MA 02118. http://www.rosiesplace.org/
