Suzy was a force of nature. We were close in age so we fought often, as siblings often do, but we were also each other’s staunchest supporters and best friends for life. It was wonderful having our children so close in age. She is the voice in my head urging me to live each day fully, and with great passion. I promise to truly live until we meet again
Although I saw Suzy only a couple times since, I knew her at Carleton and much admired her smarts, charisma, and sense of humor. Even as a college student, she was big-hearted and fun to be around. I send condolences to her family and friends.
Susan, every one of us who were privileged to be a close friend or family member of yours (and there are so many saddened by your passing, family and friends alike), can agree with this final request for such a shining star as you have been to all of us, from Dean Martin's classic, Dreamy Old New England Moon:
"Sprinkle her hair with stardust
Shower her eyes with dreams
Tell her we'll meet when roses bloom
Kiss her with your silvery beams
Dreamy old New England moon."
Kate, my husband Mark and I loved both Suzy and Gary very much. I received a letter from her last week, the day after we found out she was gone. If you can email me your address, I'd love to share my thoughts about your beautiful, amazing Mom. toricbritton@gmail.com.
I am stunned hearing of Susan’s death by accident. Wherever she went, she seemed to sweep people along with her, as she did me in our freshman year at college. Very smart, very talented and very generous. Also, very stubborn. Over our irregular catch-ups since then, she talked a lot about her family. So proud of her kids and grandchildren. I am sorry for your family’s loss. Sigh.
