Steve was a dear friend of mine when I lived in Anchorage. We met thru a mutual friend,  R Scott Armstrong, and they both dwarfed me, being 6'4" tall to my 5'4" tall. Steve, who shared a birthday with both Scott and my Mom, was always cheery when I spoke to him from both my home in Massachusetts and later on, my home in California. I last saw Steve on a trip I made to Alaska in 1995...
