Shirley was not only a terrific teacher and mentor, but also a wonderful friend. She was a special person who will be truly missed.

Dr. Griffin was one of my favorite and most impressive teachers. Her enthusiasm was contagious. She knew her work was important, and we knew to take it seriously as well. She treated her students with respect, and had high expectations which we all worked hard to live up to. Her example as an educator has been an inspiration to me and many, many others.
Dr. Griffin was a teacher that had a lasting impact on my life. She was an inspiration and a role model. I am heartbroken that the world has lost such an incredible woman and will forever be grateful for the memories that she left to all of her students.
Thoughts and prayers to the family of one of the finest teachers I have ever known. Dr Griffin was one of a kind, I feel truly blessed to have known her.

Sending my sincerest condolences to Dr. Griffin's family. I was one of the fortunate students that travelled to the Everglades with her. Being teenagers, we relished in the long awaited dinner event when "Miss Griffin" would wear her normally pinned up hair, down. She was truly devoted to her "work" and the students she taught. I am so sorry to hear of Dr. Griffin's passing - my condolences to her family. I became close with one of my very favorite people when we were both students in her class. She was instrumental in both of our decisions to study civil engineering at UMass Lowell. She used to say if she got reincarnated, she was coming back as a Canada goose...I guess we'll see =) ~ Maureen ORHS 2011
never knew she passed, sorry for your loss
