I hope that friends and family will put here some recollections of time spent with Shirley. I remember an Oakland Museum trip to Spain visiting artists, a trip to Greece with the Holtzapples, a marvelous trip to Germany with Horst and Caroline Heuttenhein but in particular I remember time spent together on Angelo Street and dips in our pool when the temperature was a challenge. Love, Joe
I remember the first time I met Shirley, she stood out among a crowd of about thirty people. I was speaking at an educational event and was looking for a friendly face in the room, I found it in Shirley. She was such a warm and nurturing presence I was drawn in to her. I had the pleasure of working with her after that day and feel blessed to have met such a lovely lady.
Shirley's ashes were interred in the Pieta Complex at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Lafayette on September 7th 2021, after a Memorial Mass in the Chapel at St. Perpetua's Church in Lafayette on September 4th and a Fox/Pugh Family Memorial Celebration on September 5th in Hayward. A fitting ending for a great lady. Joe
Shirley and I shared a terrible sense of direction. I remember when Howard and I would go to the Symphony with Howard and Joe, going to the bathroom and finding our seats again was always a little bit of an adventure. We would actually get a little giggly about it. Before I got married, I didn't expect to have that kind of relationship with my mother-in-law, but Shirley made everything fun
