Russ was a dear and esteemed colleague. We spent many years working together at Wesleyan University. We had many conversations and shared many thoughts and sentiments. I especially remember our conversations about Italy where I was born and he lived and studied.He was very important to my career in helping and defending me along through the various hurdles for promotion. He will forever be in my mind a poster board for a life lived based on principles, responsibility and duty. He was a true citizen in and leader of communities.
