This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Rolland Sears, 94, born in 1922 and passed away in 2017. We will remember him forever.
I wrote this on Facebook the morning after he was gone...
At the age of 94, my wonderful strong, caring, loving, inspiring, selfless, joyful, positive role model - my father, passed away. Isabel, Lowell, Carolina, myself were there to support him and say farewell. Just as in life, he showed us how to leave this world with a peace, calm and grace that was so amazing. Love you dad with all my heart. Thank you for making me the person that I am. I only hope I can be half the amazing human being you were. Glad you are watching over us all as you always have. Peace Dadio...you have my heart forever.
We are at peace because he is at peace.
He was my role model and mentor, inspiring me and guiding me from childhood to today. Dad was generous and welcoming with a positive outlook on life to its very end. He cared and loved without reservation as a father, husband, son, grandfather and patriarch. Dad, I love you so much and miss you tremendously, but know that you will always be at my side and in my heart and thoughts
On paper he was my uncle... but the name "uncle" does not do him justice, because he was much more than that to me. He was my father.
I will miss his kindness, I will miss his tremendous generosity, I will miss his words of wisdom.
He showed me what true love is. Always devoted to his family.
It was an honor to be in his presence the last moments of his life on Earth... Thank you Helen and Lowell for sharing your dad with me for all my life.
I knew Rolland, because of Helen. Rolland and his first Doris were living in the UK. In the summer of 1971 I went with my parents on a European vacation. We stopped in to see Rolland and Doris. I will never forget the beautiful drive Rolland took us on, through UK countryside. The pilot in him, got behind the wheel of his Jag and took us on an exhilarating ride. It was a thrill
I also want to add that over the years I would see him around all of his family. It was obvious that both Helen and Lowell revered and loved him. He was loved by his grandchildren dearly. He was another fine example of that intelligent, compassionate, and educated gentleman from the WW II generation.
