I knew Bob when I lived as a college student in Shorey House at the University of Chicago. He had a great curious mind and was a good athlete but what I will always remember is that he was just a good person and friend.
Bob (at U.C.) was one of the most decent people I've ever known, a serious scholar, just as serious sportsman, with a fine Midwestern (I think) sense of humor, and willing to talk to anyone no matter age or background. My regrets to his family and students on his premature death.
