Candle lit  by Sigma Pi Mu Chapter - Cornell on October 15th, 2025

Dear Mrs. Pew and Family,
On behalf of the brothers of the Mu Chapter of Sigma Pi Fraternity at Cornell University, please accept our deepest condolences on the passing of Brother Richard Worden Pew.
Brother Pew’s extraordinary life and legacy reflect the highest ideals of our fraternity—scholarship, leadership, service, and character. His distinguished career in human factors engineering and psychology, his service to our nation, and his contributions to academia and research exemplify a life of purpose and excellence. We are deeply proud to count him among the men of Sigma Pi.
We are especially moved by the ways he balanced professional accomplishment with a life rich in family, faith, and fellowship. His devotion to his wife of 66 years, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and his continued passion for teaching and mentorship stand as a lasting inspiration to all who follow in his footsteps.
The men of Mu Chapter honor his memory and extend our heartfelt sympathy to you during this difficult time. As a lasting tribute, the alumni are exploring the creation of a memorial plaque in Brother Pew’s honor at the Sigma Pi chapter house at Cornell. If your family would like to be part of this remembrance, you are warmly invited to join us by contributing at sigmapicornell.org/ed-foundation/donation-form.
Please know that Brother Pew’s legacy will live on in the enduring bonds of our brotherhood and in the lives he so profoundly touched.
With deepest respect and sympathy,
Ford Fay '82
