Dick was a tremendous mentor and guide. I first met him in 1990 as President of SCRAMP and our friendship grew from there. He was an amazing resource in all things track related and it didn't hurt that we came from the same part of the UK. A great dancing partner for Thelma and a mischievous side kick to Ed Magner, SCRAMP.
Dick - you leave a huge void, thank you.
Harvey and I were very fortunate to have had Dick help us with the repaving of what was left of the 1957 VIR track and the design and addition of the safety features that were non-existent in 1999. Dick and I walked with the pavers often and I enjoyed learning from him immensely. He was knowledgeable, distinguished, and delightful; I wish we had more time together. We miss you, Dick!
Richard and I grew up together back in England. Happy days at Shaugh, darker days during WW2 but he and Thelma made it possible for me to join them in the US and the good times we have had here. Betty and I will miss him but we still have Thelma to chat to from the old days which means a lot.
