Hadn't seen Wendell in years.  For two summers--1946-7 I lived next door with Lelia Olson, and got to know him as a young guy, and thought he was  very nice. We played croquet together--and he was a gentle soul.  About 25 years ago, I called him, told him of how we knew each other, was keen on how the UMC handled large gifts.
