This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, R. Jonathan Fairbanks, Jr. We will remember him forever.
Jonathan was the Director of the Wilderness Workshop (Potsdam State) and the Adirondack Institute (Skidmore College) and about 20 of us were privileged to be instructors with him in the programs that took students into the wilderness. His inspirational leadership was a life-defining relationship for us, and we of the staff miss him greatly. CJ
The Adirondack Institute was transformative for me and I attended weeks in both the Adirondacks and in the Rockies. Blending wilderness experience with the nature writing genre was brilliant and spurred me on to a life of hiking and reading that continues today. I always remember my leaders, fellow students and Mr. Fairbanks, for whom I am very grateful.
