I was known as Rusty while in Vietnam. I worked side by side with Paul for many months. We still communicated every Veterans Day, and when I didn't hear from him this year I searched for a possible obituary. I found this. He was my brother, my friend, my compadre. His last email to me from last year at this time, “Great to hear from you. It has been awhile, a lot of Veterans Days have passed since I handed you my gear and climbed aboard the helicopter home. In my mind's eye, in my dreams, we are still young studs full of piss and vinegar. I miss those days, but my memories of them may be better than they were. I still miss them. Hope you are well. And let us not be strangers in the future, waiting for the next Veterans Day to communicate. We are, indeed, brothers.”
You'll forever be in my heart.
