Patrick A. “Pat” McGuire, age 73, of San Jose, California, passed away on October 18, 2021. He is survived by his loving wife Cyndi, his older brother Bob Jr., his younger brother Tim and his sister in-law Cheryl, his son Ryan and his daughter in-law Sunny; and his two grandchildren – Skylar and Wyatt.
Pat was a consummate professional in every sense of the word. He dedicated 31 years of his life to public service as a member of the San Jose Police Department, ultimately retiring in the year 2000 as a Police Lieutenant. A 2008 inductee of the National Senior Softball Hall of Fame, Pat was also a passionate softball player. He loved the softball diamond, and he cherished the nuances of being able to place the ball from line to line.
Of the utmost importance to Pat, however, was and always will be his family; he unconditionally loved his wife Cyndi and the entire McGuire family. All throughout his life, Pat ensured that his family members and his dear friends were always taken care of before his own needs were fulfilled.
Pat is now at peace. It was his wish that no public services be held. Memorial contributions to the charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
Cyndi, Ryan and family- I am so sorry that we lost Pat. I don’t really remember much of my life that didn’t include him. He was always there making sure we were taken care of! Even attempting to teach me how to drive (ps that did not go well). I am here for you now. I hope you know that. Xoxo Nikki.
Cyndi, Ryan, and family.
I am so sorry. I, like Nicole, don’t remember much of my life without Pat in it. I have a fond memory of him teaching me to hit a softball as a young kid. I now use what he taught me to teach my boys to hit a baseball. I am here for you all. Hugs and love

I'm so sorry to hear this news of Lt McGuire's Passing. Lt Pat McGuire was one of a handful of my BEST Lt's in the last 26yrs at SJPD. It was a pleasure to know him and work under his command.
Thank you Pat for being such a wonderful father in-law. You always made me feel so welcome and apart of the family. I loved seeing you light up as you watched Skylar Belle run around, and how proud you were to meet Wyatt. You were a wonderful grandpa and I know you will be watching over us. We love you so much and will always miss you!
I loved getting to know Pat when I was a dispatcher at County Comm. He was personable, quirky, with an odd sense of humor, which immediately made him endearing to me. I got to know him best as a fellow fisherman on six years of fishing trips to Alaska. I started out as a bumbling novice, and while others made fun of me, Pat cheered me on. The world is poorer with his passing.
Pat, the best times of my childhood was when I would watch my Dad (Terrence Simpson retired SJPD) play softball. You always spent time talking to me (and my family). And I’ll NEVER forget you addressing the team jokingly after a tournament “and all you guys are a-holes except for Terry”. I was real proud of him haha. Thank you for being his closest friend during a great time in our lives.
I was a classmate of Pat's from 1st to 8th grade at St. John Vianney's School. My mother was his father's school secretary many years ago. I was hoping to have a small class reunion when I learned of Pat's passing. I'm so sad. He was such a kind and funny fellow student. I loved seeing his school picture from our days at SJV. My thoughts are with your family.
I am so sorry to hear of Pats passing He was my first cousin I will always remember how good he was to my parents his uncle Bud and aunt Lena. May he rest in peace.

I just heard of Pat,s passing today 4-27-2022. I am so sorry. I was Pat’s first cousin on his Dad’s side- Uncle Robert. My husband, Joe (Who passed on 4-6-2020) and my family loved Pat! He used to cruise by our home on Somerset Drive and flash his police lights at our kitchen window while I was baking. A great cousin! Mary Lee Castro-Wilson
Pat and I started kindergarten together in 1952 and remained classmates, friends and neighbors for many years thereafter. He served as a groomsman at my marriage in1971 and we shared family through my Aunt Lena and Uncle Bud. It is with great sadness that I learned of his death. My deepest sympathies to his family and friends.
I am so sorry to hear of Pat's passing. We grew up in the same neighborhood and went to school together and shared the same cousins. We used to play baseball on Golf Dr. When grown up Pat would drive by in his Police car to check up on me to see if all was ok. When I got a job at SJPD he was always there with encouragement. My deepest sympathies to Tim, Bob and Pat's family.
Happy 75th Birthday, Dad. I am so proud to be your son. Love, Ry
Happy Birthday, Chief. I love you and I miss you a ton.
I love you Dad. Happy Birthday to the World’s Greatest Father!
